However, at that temperature the intensity of light is so great (and with so much UV and shorter wavelength light) that I would highly recommend not trying to look at the source. However, when things get very, very hot they might appear blue. This shows that the general shape of the emission curve is always the same - the only thing that changes is the position of the peak (which follows a 1/T law known as Wien's Displacement Law), and the area under the curve, which increases with the fourth power of the temperature (Stefan-Boltzmann law).Īs I mentioned, in a "real" material there may be some "bumps" in the spectrum due to changes in emissivity with wavelength - but to the best of my knowledge this is not enough to stop the appearance of red-yellow-white as things get hotter. I will just reproduce one of the curves from there: I gave a number of examples of this in this earlier answer. There may be some (small) deviations from the general law due to surface emissivity, but not so much that you would notice.īlack body radiation is not a single wavelength, it is a broad spectrum given by Planck's law. It's a funny name, because even "non black" bodies emit this thermal radiation. When metals (or any materials) get very hot, they emit "black body radiation". "Take a Bow" was released as the fifth overall single from Good Girl Gone Bad, but the first from the re-release of the album, entitled Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded. The song premiered on March 14, 2008, on the KIIS-FM radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest. "Take a Bow" was written and produced by StarGate and Ne-Yo. Problems playing this file? See media help. Rihanna performed "Take a Bow" on " AOL Music Sessions" and was included on the set lists of the Good Girl Gone Bad Tour (2008–09), Last Girl on Earth (2010–11), Loud Tour (2011) and Diamonds World Tour (2013). Its accompanying music video was directed by Anthony Mandler and presents Rihanna as the female protagonist who leaves her boyfriend because of his infidelity. Outside of the United States, "Take a Bow" topped the charts in Canada, Denmark, Ireland, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom, and peaked within the top ten of the charts in Australia, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, and Switzerland. "Take a Bow" also peaked at the top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and US Pop Songs chart, and has been certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. "Take a Bow" peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Rihanna's third song to do so. Critical reception of "Take a Bow" was mixed, with some critics praising the song's lyrics and powerful balladry, while others criticized StarGate's production as unoriginal. It is an R&B song that contains elements of dance-pop. "Take a Bow" was released as the first single on April 15, 2008, from the re-release and the fifth single overall from the two releases. The song was written and produced by Tor Erik Hermansen, Mikkel Eriksen, and Shaffer Smith under their stage names StarGate and Ne-Yo. Here are 10 Rihanna songs that, in all likelihood, won’t be played during the Super Bowl halftime show… but if we’re being honest, they really should be." Take a Bow" is a song recorded by Barbadian singer Rihanna for Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded (2008), the re-release of her third studio album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007). And while there’s a good sense of which Rihanna hits won’t be performed at the Super Bowl, a fair amount of them deserve to be hoisted back up for the world to see. But the truth is, Rihanna could create a memorable Super Bowl show using none of those aforementioned songs - that’s how many career hits she’s accrued. Toss in a ballad or two, and save some time for recent single “Lift Me Up” (which is nominated for the best original song Oscar - Rihanna would be smart to appeal to Academy voters on the largest platform possible!), and you’re looking at a robust setlist, full of hits and stuffed to the brim. So which hits are making the Super Bowl, and which ones are being left outside the stadium? Although Rihanna’s setlist is being kept tightly under wraps, it’s safe to assume that some of her defining smashes (“Umbrella,” “We Found Love,” “Diamonds,” “Rude Boy,” “Work,” “SOS”) will be featured alongside a combination of notable hits that work in a Super Bowl context (“Only Girl (in the World),” “Where Have You Been,” “Pon de Replay,” “Disturbia,” “Don’t Stop the Music,” “This is What You Came For”). 12), she probably won’t be able to squeeze in anywhere close to her 14 career Hot 100 chart-toppers, let alone all of her 31 career top 10 singles. Typically, Super Bowl halftime performers are given between 12 and 15 minutes to play on the world’s biggest stage - so even if Rihanna opts to perform an ultra-efficient mega-mix at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. Ever since Rihanna was announced as the headliner of the Super Bowl LVII halftime show over four months ago, part of the fun for longtime fans has been trying to guess which of her many, many hits her setlist will include. Seeking a resolution, Astro decided to extend their portfolio beyond the Mac. With Apple offering their own mirroring solution baked right into their operating system, the small company has struggled to remain an appealing alternative for Mac users. It's been a year since digital EPIGRAPHY last reported about Astro's excellent dongle solution coming to Windows. (The photo for this article is from the Duet website.Astro’s Luna Display is almost ready to offer a seamless connection between your PC and iPad (Photo by Astro HQ) I believe Astropad is also intended to connect a Mac to only one iOS device at a time. I had no problem creating a ridiculous multiple desktop display by using Air Display to connect multiple iPads and iPhones to my Mac, but Duet Display can use only one device as a display. One other feature which I thought might be too obscure to list in the table is support for using multiple devices as displays simultaneously. Duet Pro and Astropad Studio claim to support hovering, but those are premium levels of those apps which require a subscription.Īfter I originally wrote this post, Astropad came out with their own table comparing the two premium versions, Duet Display Pro vs Astropad Studio. But given the major differences in what hardware they support and how they’re priced, you might be swayed one way or the other more by what hardware you own or how you prefer to pay.Ībout that “Hover/rollover support” line in the table: A frustrating aspect of using a mobile tablet as a graphics tablet is that they generally don’t support pointer hovering, so you can’t hover the pointer without clicking as you can with a mouse or Wacom tablet. Not being able to hover is a side effect of how most mobile devices work, where your finger or stylus can interact with the display only at the moment you actually touch it. But hovering is important when you want to select a small target, precisely grab object handles, or use mouse rollover effects such as tool tips. I can’t compare the performance and usage of Astropad and Duet Pro, because I’ve only used Astropad. If you want to connect wirelessly you have to use Astropad, but for best performance you’ll want to connect with a cable anyway. If you don’t like subscription pricing, you have to use Astropad (but not Astropad Studio, which does require a subscription). If you use a Windows PC, you have to use Duet Pro because Astropad only works with Macs.If you want to use Duet Pro, you have to own an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil. You can draw some conclusions from that table: Like Duet Pro, Astropad Studio is available by subscription, but you can still pay just once for the Astropad app and use its base feature set without an Astropad Studio subscription.) ( Update: In January 2017, Astropad announced Astropad Studio, a premium level that includes better performance and additional features. Most of all, you’ll want to pay attention to the hardware they support and their pricing models. But beyond that, they have more differences than you might think. ( Update: In December 2016, Duet Display and Duet Pro added the ability to let an iPad display the Touch Bar when connected to a Mac running macOS 10.12 Sierra.)ĭuet Pro and Astropad both use an iOS app that communicates with a companion application that you run on your computer. If you’re deciding which one to use, you’ll need to know the important differences between them.ĭuet Pro started out as Duet Display, which lets a Mac or PC use an iPad or iPhone as an additional Mac display. Duet Pro adds support for advanced stylus features such as pressure and angle, bringing it into direct competition with Astropad. These solutions display desktop applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator on an iPad, letting you use a stylus on the iPad display to draw or paint directly on the desktop document.īoth Astropad and Duet Pro are much less expensive than a Wacom Cintiq…if you already own an iPad. If you’ve wanted to use a mobile tablet as a Wacom Cintiq-like graphics input device for your computer, for a long time Astropad was the app that many turned to (a company called Avatron also offers Air Display for iOS and Air Stylus for Android). A diverse selection of kiosks hawking everything from hair extensions to miracle eyeglass cleaning solution to remote-controlled toy helicopters line the center of the mall. Other popular outlet stores include Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Gap, Ralph Lauren and Bed Bath & Beyond. There are also such “anchor stores” as a Super Target and a JCPenney Outlet for the more budget-minded. This is the only Florida location for many of these stores. Since it opened, Sawgrass Mills has been expanded four times, with new sections like “The Oasis,” an outdoor “dining and fun” area featuring a Ron Jon Surf Shop and a Regal 23 Cinema and Imax a 40,000-square-foot “Fashion Avenue,” and a “Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass” section featuring upscale lifestyle merchandise offered up by stores like Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry, David Yurman and Prada. The largest outlet mall in the nation and the sixth largest mall in the country, Sawgrass Mills has 350 stores – not to mention an entire section devoted to dining and entertainment with a 23-screen movie theater. Whether you’re a high-end shopper who worships Prada, Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci or a bargain hunter looking to score a deal on electronics, clothing or other merchandise, there’s something for everyone at Sawgrass Mills.īut make sure you wear your sneakers when you visit the outlet mall in west Sunrise, so you can traverse the two-miles and 2.3 million square feet of power shopping comfortably.
Play in style with this PUMA basketball shoeĪccording to one wearer, the shoe's appearance is "what takes everything to the next level." He is not ashamed to take this shoe even to his non-sports-related gigs because of how appealing it looks. Another reviewer reports that this shoe already "felt awesome out of the box." An expert also says that the shoe takes "basically no time to break in." Now, those who want to save time will really find this shoe a very good pick. He is able to say so because the upper performed "admirably", providing ventilation and comfort even when the shoe is worn for long hours on end. "The build is excellent," an expert says of the upper. It's already a bonus that this shoe is also very easy to put on and take off. Aside from being "perfect for wide-footers," another commenter reports that this is the "best-fitting basketball shoe" he has ever worn. A wearer with wide feet reports that his feet typically hurts when he buys new shoes, but this was not the case at all with the Court Rider 2. This basketball shoe from PUMA is pleasantly accommodating to those with wide feet. This is corroborated by an expert who reports that this shoe indeed delivers a one-to-one fit, ensuring support wherever it is needed. "Comfy, supportive fit," another user comments. The PUMA Court Rider 2 is still able to lock the foot down without pinching and so much restrictiveness. However, he vouches that the Court Rider 2 still gets the job done pretty well. When it comes to support and lockdown, one commenter says that this shoe offers "nothing crazy" or particularly outstanding. The whole cushioning setup offers more response than compression, so it's going to serve the needs of lighter and faster players better. It is still able to offer impact protection, but it is still not for players who are heavier and have more aggressive play styles. The Court Rider 2 means court feelĪccording to one avid reviewer, this shoe is low to the ground and is quite reactive. Another reviewer has the same comment, and he adds that he doesn't really need to wipe his shoe at all. Another expert says that while the traction setup is not really the squeakiest, it still works well and he experiences no major issues on the indoor court where he plays.Īn expert reports that the outsole does not really pick up a lot of dust, so those players who play on slightly unkempt courts may not have problems with this. Another commenter relays that he bought the PUMA Court Rider 2 because of its purported grip, and they were not disappointed. "Gripped every surface I played on superbly," an expert says of it. When it comes to traction, you are not going to have problems with the PUMA Court Rider 2. They are better off with the Nike LeBron 19 and other picks from LeBron James's line. If they are willing to wear shoes from other brands, the Kobe basketball shoes from Nike are going to be great picks.īigger players who need a lot of cushioning and extra strong support are not the targets of this basketball shoe from PUMA. They are better off with the PUMA Clyde All-Pro. The PUMA Court Rider 2 is not for those who have narrow feet. It’s worth to have a try.Who should NOT buy this basketball shoe from PUMA If you have PUMA Court Rider 1.0, you can adapt to the PUMA Court Rider 2.0 fastly. It’s suitable for the defenders who has fast response. The center of gravity is low, and it offers fast response. The feedback of PUMA Court Rider 2.0 is similar with the Court Rider 1.0. If you already have PUMA Court Rider 1.0, you will adapt to the PUMA Court Rider 2.0 fast. The center of gravity is low and the feedback is faster. After fastening the shoelaces, it can fix your foot well. The insole of shoe tree is wide and comfortable. If your instep is high, it would press your instep. The vamp of shoe head is a little narrow. The fitness is softer than PUMA Court Rider 1.0. The big outsole structure is more comfortable and flexible.įor the size, you can choose the standard size. There is a big groove pattern which improve the flexibility and ductility. The traction performance is still excellent. It uses the same outsole pattern as PUMA Court Rider 1.0. It can offer excellent lateral supporting performance. So it’s very stable and safe when touching the ground. The resilience is similar with PUMA Court Rider 1.0. The Foamstripe logo is moved to shoe heel. The PUMA Court Rider 2.0 has been released. The chee cheong fun was neither bad or extremely good and I found the serving of prawns quite pathetic. The outer skin was very crispy and the warm and soft banana had a nice sweet and caramelised taste. This was unexpectedly nice as a fried wrapped banana roll. It tasted alot like just marinated meat buns The flour of the bun was actually quite ok but the char siew flavour was missing that sweet charred char siew flavour. I do have pretty high standards for char siew buns and sadly, this version did not make it to pass my standards. The highlight was the fried dough which was extremely crispy and the porridge reminded me of the ones served at Crystal Jade but at half the price.Īnother must order number is the char siew buns and traditional Cantonese dim sum versions have their tops open up like flowers. The consistency of the porridge was thick and sooth with bits of century egg and sliced pork. A must at all dim sum sessions will be the pork porridge and the ones served at Yan Palace was pretty generous in serving and surprising very delicious. For those who prefers proper dishes, they also serve them at lunch time. We visited on a Sat afternoon mainly for their dim sum and their dim sum menu had a huge variety. Occupying a large space, the restaurant can seat close to 50 to 70 tables and there are also around VIP rooms with karaoke functions for private gathering. The restaurant décor bear high resemblance to a bustling Hong Kong restaurant with their typical bright coloured carpeting and table cloths. Do not expect the top class service here but instead immerse in the traditional curt Cantonese service standards which is non offending and somewhat familiar to a Cantonese. Located under a block of old flats, Yan Palace has been in the Hong Lim location for many years and it is quite the popular venue for many families bringing their elderly to enjoy an authentic Cantonese meal. The restaurant has been in business for at least more than 40 years and I remember celebrating my grandmother’s birthday there when I was just a kid. The bill is $355 for the 16 of us in two tables and it works out to about $22/- per person. After the great meal at Spring Court, my mum was craving for dim sum at an old traditional Chinese restaurant and we decided to visit Yan Palace which is really the popular restaurant for both weddings and celebrations in those days. We have a hearty conversation among ourselves in the restaurant and I think the service provided is undeniably good. While the monosodium and sodium content in most Chinese dishes are high, I found the dishes here not really salty and that is good. The pork buns were fluffy and the char siew paste well cooked. The `siew mai' pork and shrimp dumplings were `juicy' and flavorful. Of the dishes, I particularly like the chicken feet meat which is very tender and soft. I remember I ever tasted dim sum in a coffee shop in Penang where the meat seem to be cold and stale appeared to be just out from the refrigerator. I personally find the dim sum delicacies `freshly baked' without any `refrigerator' smell. I think there must be plus factors that attracted them here. I also met my grassroots patrons and neighbors at the restaurant who came here with their colleagues to have their lunch. They were also all very well-attired and presentable. The supervisor was quick to take orders and made good suggestions for the food. Our cups of tea were also topped up almost instantly. The service was prompt and the waitresses removed our empty plates almost immediately. The ambience in the restaurant is conducive for a dim sum chit chat session over cups of Chinese tea. Parking is free and the restaurant is located at the second floor of the clubhouse of Warren Golf & Country Club. This is not the first time I came to this restaurant. The 16 of us went to the restaurant for a farewell lunch for our colleague who will be transferred to another unit. |
